Ein halbes Jahr nach der Markteinführung des Ford Mustang 1965
wurde mit dem Konzept Colt begonnen.
Die frühen Skizzen, die wahrscheinlich von Philip Clark stammen,
sieht man den Einfluss zum Mustang.
Zum Team gehörte Gordon Mackray aus den USA sowie Neil Bertley auf britischer Seite,
der später Clarks frühe Entwürfe weiterentwickelte.

Six months after the launch of the Ford Mustang in 1965,
work began on the Colt concept.
The early sketches, probably by Philip Clark,
show the influence of the Mustang.
The team included Gordon Mackray from the USA and Neil Bertley on the British side,
who later developed Clark's early designs further.
