1972 Capri II als Projekt Diana
Die Aufgabe war einen Kompromiss zwischen Alt und Neu zu finden.
Das verantwortliche Team musste die beliebte Form vom Capri I sorgfältig weiterentwickeln
oder sich für ein komplett neues Design mit Heckklappe und Klappscheinwerfern entscheiden.
Das abgebildete Auto des Designers Claude Lobo sah mit einem
klassischen C-förmigen hinteren Seitenfenster wie ein Capri aus.
Henry Ford II wurde von Hans Muth gebeten, sich zwischen diesem Design
und der Heckklappenvariante zu entscheiden.
„Ich hasse das Seitenfenster an diesem Modell“, schimpfte er.
Dann zeigte er auf das andere und sagte:
„Klappbare Scheinwerfer werden niemals an einem Capri zu finden sein.“

1972 Capri II as Project Diana
The task was to find a compromise between old and new.
The team responsible had to carefully refine the popular shape of the Capri I
or opt for a completely new design with a tailgate and pop-up headlights.
The car pictured, designed by Claude Lobo, looked like a Capri with a
classic C-shaped rear side window.
Henry Ford II was asked by Hans Muth to choose between this design and the tailgate version.
‘I hate the side window on this model,’ he grumbled.
Then he pointed to the other one and said:
‘Pop-up headlights will never be found on a Capri.’
